What is Putting Face on Faith?
As Christians, we often do this without thinking about it. There are things that we just do such as friendly greetings, praying for each other, helping around the church on work days or coming in and cleaning the church building. But how do we Put a Face on Faith outside of church?
Putting a Face on Faith is the things we do in the name of Christ. It could be feeding the hungry (Meals on Wheels), or visiting with the sick and homebound (Care group). We do this when we work at the Fair booth or help clean up Freeport (Pretzel cluster activities). If you gave a donation or participated in a service project for the Gulf area after Hurricane Katrina, you were part of the recovery effort. 90% of that recovery effort is funded by faith based organizations.
Putting a Face on Faith may not be convenient. It could be a real challenge and push us to get out of our comfort zone. But it is also doing what God calls us to do. That could mean inviting a difficult person in your life to attend a church activity. Possibly it means taking some one into your home who has fallen on rough times.
More likely it means: volunteering at FACC, helping with a funeral luncheon, making a donation to Nothing but Nets or Coats and Clothes for kids. Putting a Face on Faith is what we do. We want to encourage everyone to watch for opportunities to Put a Face on Faith.
